On our last day of vacation, we spent the day flying home. However, before that, we had to check out of the hotel and return the rental car. Checking out just involved returning the keys and signing a piece of paper. The drive to the rental agency went well; after spending a week in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I knew the roads well enough to get us back to the rental agency without any issues. Once at the rental agency, we simply had to park our car in the line of other people returning cars and get all of our things out of the car.
After returning the car, we had to check in for our flight. While checking in, I noticed that our seats weren't next to each other. I used the program at the check-in station to get us two seats next to each other in the exit rows; this happened to be convient for us because people seated in the exit rows are able to board before almost everyone else.
While we were at the airport, we found a place to plug in our laptop and Nintendo DS to help us pass the time. We had one lay-over in I-don't-remember-where. While we were there, we had something to eat, spent some time walking around and walked across the airport to wait for our plane at the gate. About half an hour before boarding, we found out that the gate our plane was arriving at changed, so we had to walk across the airport again to the new gate. As it turned out, the new gate was right next to the gate we had arrived at.
After the second plane trip, we had to take the shuttle to the long-term parking lot we had parked in. Once at the parking lot, we had to find our car. We knew the general location of the car, so we split up and tried looking for it; I eventually found it with the us of the panic alarm on my key ring. Once we found the car, we loaded up, bought some gas and drove the 2 hours back home.
I had a great time on our vacation and am very surprised how many things we were able to fit in during our week in Texas. The most enjoyable things for me were taking pictures at the zoo, seeing my brother and, of course, just being able to spend all my time with my wife.
